German Wine

Friday night I had just settled in for the night (aka took my bra off already), made peace with the fact that I'd be chillin' by my lonesome and was going through the process of picking out some chick-flick to keep me busy until bed time... when a new friend M, invited me over for some wine with a couple of other girls. Usually I limit myself to 2 drinks, I don't like to get buzzed or tipsy, or (God-forbid) Drunk... no no, that's just not my style. However, M and I were sipping our glasses of wine, as a lady should as soon as I stood up after my 2 drink limit to hit the little girls room I was already buzzed. EEkkk... this 30% wine is no joke people. I proceeded to have another 2 glasses (I think) and some bread (carbs are a must when one drinks, right?) (does that mean this evening with friends, wine and bread counts as Communion? Just saying...). Needless to say good times were had by all!

I've been lucky enough to speak with Kevin quite a bit since he's been gone. He finally met up with his company and is getting to know the guys on his maintenance team. Seems like there's less structure with this group of guys than the team he was on in Colorado- time will tell though.

Other than alllll of that exciting news there isn't too much to report. Still waiting to hear back on that job. I think the hiring official with the contractor was out of the office the end of last week. GRRrr. I love waiting. It's my favorite.

Day 3: Interview

I had an AWESOME interview today with a really good government contractor. Things went really well (hence the "AWESOME")! I've sent my Thank You email for the interviewer's time and contacting the hiring official.... we'll see how it plays out. The ONLY downfall is that it'd be an hour commute to and fro everyday. It's a great opportunity and I can't wait to hear if I got selected.

Other than that I've had some new and great friends stop by to keep me company the last few days-- just like Monday, I'm Stayin' Busy!

In other amazing news I heard from my fella! <3

The one where I land a J.O.B!!

Yes, you heard me right! After almost two years and countless companies toying with my emotions I officially have a job! I start on MONDAY!!!! I think this job is really perfect for where I'm at right now. Being in school and pursuing my degree is my main priority so this Receptionist job will go a long way to ensure our bills are paid (important) and allow me the flexibility to study and successfully complete my classes! It may not be filled with glory or loads of fun, but for now it's absolutely PERFECT!

I gotta say I'm going to really miss Thursday morning coffee with my girls!
{major sad face}
=(

I've been spending a lot of time thinking about friends (both past and present) lately. I find myself beginning stories with "this girl I used to be friends with..." a lot. So I started reminiscing about friends I've loved and lost. There are a few. I can't possibly imagine why someone wouldn't want to be friends with me until the end of time. But evidently I manage to turn people off (you know, from time to time).
To those that I've lost:
I do miss you. I do think of you often.

I was just at a friends house the other night and we got to talking about how great it is to have milspouse friends close by (that completely friggin ROCK). I went on to say how losing friends, is a lot like a romantic breakup, at least for me. That I do personally have to mourn those relationships. Especially of the people that I've let into my heart and life. I believe that good friends become family. Truly family. So when I've made up my mind and set certain expectations of friends and they "breakup" with me, it's truly heartbreaking.
Do you feel this way?

To those that I've found:
I love you!!!!!
Thanks for putting up with me and loving me in return. Thanks for being there for me and accepting me into your world, as I have shared and embraced you (and yours) into my mine.
Here's to the future and many, many fits of laughter and bottles of wine!

What a difference a day makes

So Monday I was hopeful and confident that I would get a call/email, be contacted in so way informing me that I would receive an offer for the position I was interview for last week. Tuesday I was "broken up with in a email" as a friend put it. I call it "hate mail".... my sad but seemingly inevitable rejection
"What are you gonna do?" I thought.
Not out of desperation.... but just to say there isn't anything I can do about it. Remember the end of last month when I blogged about Rev Run's Words of Wisdom? Well something he says repeatedly that stuck with me, "Do your best and forget the rest." and also "Let go and let God." I'm not an overly religious person but the idea of what he's saying resonates with me especially under my current circumstances.... In my eyes these sayings are one in the same. Once you've done everything in your power you have to let go of the rest... it's out of your hands!
I have to say it wasn't all overwhelming confidence though. I did wonder how I could have been so wrong. I thought I nailed it. I'm currently pursuing a BS in Management, I answered all the questions 'right', I had great questions prepared for the interviewerS, I was over-prepared for the interview, I smiled and shook hands, AND even sent my "Thank You" note!! How could I have been so confident about this interview and been so wrong? Whatever it is, it doesn't matter! I'm doing my best (so what if it takes all of my energy and motivation) to maintain a positive attitude and keep moving forward.

In other news, my Best Friend is just a few weeks shy of her due date! I've spent some time recently picking up a few things for impending bundle of joy... I am excited for her (and me) to have her family grow!

And yes, I know it's Wednesday and you're all desperate to know what I want... but I'm sorta just not in the mood today. Other than needing to get to the gym, I want for next Tuesday to arrive. "Why is that?" you ask. Well because Next Tuesday will be girls night (he-man-man-haters-club) at my house. NO BOYS ALLOWED! Next Tuesday also marks the DVD/BluRay release of:
Which obviously I WANT!

What to do....

What to do... What to do.......
Today I feel like I'm just treading water; twiddling my thumbs. I'm not bored. I'm sort of uninspired.

Have you felt this way? What did you do to change it? What do you do to maintain??

I'm waiting to hear about an interview I had on Friday. I KILLED the interview. I was extremely confident when I left the site, I sent my Thank You email so I feel like I've done everything I could to prepare for the interview and everything prior to and now it's out of my hands. They told me they wanted to make a decision by today. So of course I've been on pins and needles all day and I still haven't heard anything.Good news is that my candidate profile on the company's website indicates that I'm still in the running.
time will tell

Questions

You know what... I considered comin' back and bitchin' whining and complaining about the fact that I only got 9 questions for the anniversary of my 306th blog post! BUT, instead I thought it better to just answer the 9 questions I did receive and remember who really cares about me; who my true friends are!!

Let us begin:
 Erin said...
My questions are....how excited are you for eclipse?? Do you dream about Rpatz everynight??
Lets just say there aren't words to accurately convey my excitement- 30 June, BE THERE!
As for my dreams.... No! lol BUT TEAM EDWARD allllll the way-- there's never truly been a "team jacob" (notice: not even deserving of caps).
What initially made you fall in love with your husband?
He loved me more than I deserved. He was so good to me and showed me how I deserved to be treated. He made me feel good about myself and that really attracted me to him.
 What is your favorite quality about him?
He really is very generous and forgiving.
What is your least fav quality?
I wish he'd take better care of himself. He did quit smoking 5 months ago tho!!! That's definitely a step in the right direction!

Crazy Shenanigans said...

Have you ever stayed in one of those hotel rooms that has a heart shaped hot tub? hahahaha
Let me think back to Summer 2001.... wait... that'd be a BIG-FAT NO! You're crazy girl.
If you could only watch one tv show for a week which would you chose?
ENTOURAGE!

Anonymous said...

My question is why did you decide to go back to school if you are that unenthused about it? It is hard enough to get though when you are thrilled about it.
My main motivation for going back to school is to make myself more marketable; in hopes of finding a job! Sometimes being a grown-up sucks.... sometimes that means taking one for the team, or doing something you aren't completely enthused about.

jenn said...

if you could have any job in the world what would it be?
On a practical level I would love to be a sonographer! I recently discovered that I could really be happy ultra-sounding (my own-new word) other's babies! How great would that be? I've been researching how to do this, and will be talking to a school nearby tomorrow!!! WOooo :)

BUTTTT since we're talking ANY job in the whole wide world I think I'd love to be a celebrity assistant. You get all the perks but none of the nightmare-ish paparazzi and life-interfering non-sense! Could you imagine what Oprah pays her assistant/s!? wow.

if you could trade places for 1 day only with any celebrity who would it be and why?

Oprah. Because she's on TV, she has amazing contacts and does some great charity work. Also I would extend some of that generosity usually directed to the Africans and Lower Class to some AVERAGE-Middle-Class folks who really just need a lil' more to get by.
Not to mean her causes aren't justified just saying that because you're not suffering horribly doesn't mean you can't use a little help also.
~~~
So those were my questions... and answers (obviously) and I loved them!
PS: Birthday was awesome.
PSS: Found out I didn't get that job on Friday!
=(
Boo...
Back to the Grind.
The Randoms
I had my interview this AM. All in all I think it went really well. I really enjoyed that this wasn't a traditional interview with the "what are you strengths and weaknesses" type questions! Phew.. Those are the worst! I came prepared with a spare resume and some other information about myself and qualifications for the interviewer(s) and all informed about the company as well!
They said I should hear something by the end of the week or early next week at the very latest! They are currently hiring for two positions, so there are more interviews to conduct.
After my interview I headed over to the school to do some printing. I can read the required text online but something about that feels... unfinished. Like if I don't hold it in my hand I haven't completed my task. I guess I'm old school like that. At least I know I can recycle the paper at the school once this class is overwith. Speaking of this class I'm quick upset that I couldn't take it online... a friend of mine has taken it and said it was ridiculously easy online. But thanks to the powers-at-be I have to do a 10-12 minute power point presentation at the end of the 5 weeks! Booooo!! :(
Funny thing happened as I was leaving the Student Resource Center (SRC). This girl had an iPad. I stopped her and said "IS THAT AN iPAD?" like some crazed-"star-struck"-looney-tune! She said "yes." I said "wow- do you like it?" she preceeded to tell me allllll about it and how she loves it and how great it is.... ect and so forth. Well this only made me want Apple Inc. to holler and send me 1 of everything they got for free! (hahhaaaa)
Other than that I know I forgot to remind everyone to submit their questions for my "306th" blog anniversary! So far I've received less than 5 questions. Well, I'd say that's pretty crappy considering I have over 140 followers. DE-LURK people... come out and join the discussion! Say hello and ask any ol' thing you're heart desires! And do it quick.. you never know what'll be in store next. ;)
Two news items I wanna share with everyone:
1st:
good for him.
2nd:
Today is Mr. Channing Tatum's 30th Birthday!
(feast your eyes)
(from his modeling days--- note the lack of hair)
(that's for YOU sis!)
FOR MY ARMY GIRLS!:
Love the rain... hate the wet dog smell!
**So the first time I posted the link to Eclipse it was to the first/old trailer. I fixed it for all of you! ENJOY.**
I've been down in the dumps lately.
You know sometimes life is just kinda hard. Well... today I decided that instead of getting up and turning on the TV I was gonna read.
Here's what I read:
Rev Run's Words of Wisdom.
Have you read it? I love it.
(just occurred to me I should use it as a giveaway but I've marked it all up with pen... oops shoulda thought ahead)
Rev Run helped me start my day off in a positive way with a positive attitude and corny as it may be positivity came back to me!! Things have been coming to head in a lot of areas lately: job, unemployment benefits running out, money, weight loss... you name it the list goes on and on. So today I spent a few hours with my friend "LB", had a grilled cheese sandwhich  and tomato soup for lunch. Oh and I can't forget my quality time with precious baby Hannah!
Anywho, I come home and watch some Oprah. Which just made my friggin month with the new Twilight: Eclipse Trailer! Check it out here Twihards!
(yes I just said "Twihards". Move on.)
And it just got better from there!
I received a phone call about 15 minutes ago and I have an INTERVIEW on Monday!!
BOOP BOOP!
Start your day off right people; it sets the tone for what follows!
discouraged
I know I haven't blogged about my job search in a long while, but nevertheless I have still been searching for jobs. I was being considered for a NAF position at a nearby Air Force Base. I thought that with a few connections I would be a shoe-in. No so much. I found out yesterday they hired someone else for the position. :( I am very discouraged- you know AGAIN! But I am going to concentrate on things I have some control over. I'm going to go back to school. Isn't that good news? Yea, I'm so very excited about it.
I've been going back and forth for a while about what I want to go to school for? At what level? You know that age-old question, "what do I wanna be when I grow up?" I think I've found something that will work when Kevin and I should ever PCS. I'm just not sure its something I'm really pationate about. But I'm starting to learn (as I've said before) being a grown-up is no fun! We have to do things that we don't necessarily love to get through. Right?
What did you want to be when you grew up? Are you doing it? Or did you settle for something that would pay the bills?
Here we go!!
I've decided that I'm DONE with my post-holiday funk! I'm just over it. I'm sick of being down in the dumps for no good reason... So, screw you post-holiday-funk. See ya. I'm moving on to bigger and better things; brighter days.
Here's what you may have missed/What I failed to report:
Kevin finally unpacked from deployment.
(yeah... only took 5 months, but it's finally happened)
We got a surprise visit from the "New Bed Fairy"
(we've moved up in the world of mattresses. Hello, Ultra-Plush Serta Mattress!)
I've been lending my hand to my very pregnant sisters nesting habits! We've successfully painted baby Caden's room. I'll really need to get some pictures. She made me choose the paint colors and I think it looks fantastic! Just yesterday we put the bedding on/in (whatevs) the crib, hung valance and two pictures. Now the room just needs a few finishing touches.
I am in the running for a NAF position at Schriever AFB.
(I know I know... I'm Army (hooah and all that) and this is AF. But hey, it pays and that's truly what I need out of a job. Lets not forget my Pops was AF for 21 years. So... umm I was expecting to insert an AF alternative to "Hooah". I'm at a loss. Ooops.)
Oh, we also 86'd all of the Christmas decor. That was a sad day. :(
I got over it.
I really crave order so it was a good thing.
Here's what's to come:
Get back to my bloggy!
((it's really missed me))
Get motivated.... in every way.
((weight loss, here I come. chores, reluctantly necessary. job.... ugh -rolling eyes-.))
Visit my best friend in DC! We'll be finding out the sex of her baby (to be named Samantha, because I'm fantastic).
Start a job.
((fingers crossed... I'll do everything I can on my end))
Have carpets steam cleaned.
((oh-so-necessary))
Sell stuff on Craigslist.
((damn recession))
My favorite Brother-in-law returns from A-stan!!
((Wooooo))
My second nephew graces us with his presence in March!
My ONE YEAR blogger-versary!
I am most excited to keep myself in check. We all have emotions and they aren't always fun or pleasant. Sometimes we are down in the dumps. But, I'm done with that for the time being. Please forgive my absence, I don't like to broadcast my pity-parties. As I said I'm in to brighter days. I am going to work on laughing more. General Happiness.
Anyone else notice I now have over 100 followers?
Love. It.
I Want it Wednesday...
First, I should tell you I fear I'm on the verge of losing the job I just got! Here's what happened: I haven't been sleeping for shit. You already know this. Monday I wasn't able to get to sleep until 4:00 AM! Yes... Four AM! I don't know how about you, but I am not a person that can function off of 2 hours of sleep- which is what I would have got if I woke up and went to work. So, I emailed my new boss at 3:30 AM letting her know of the situation at hand and that I wouldn't be coming into the office (yesterday) Tuesday. She responded and seemed okay with it. Yesterday I slept until noon and barrowed an Ambien from my sister... last night I slept like a baby. IT WAS GREAT! But today my boss wouldn't really talk to me. On the other hand I haven't been there long so it could be nothing. I know I did the right thing by not going; it wouldn't have been safe to drive and once I got into the office I wouldn't have trusted my work so it would have been a waste, but maybe I was just feeling guilty for not being there because I know that they need the extra hands on deck right now. We'll see what comes next. I've been working hard and I already know a lot of the job so they aren't having to explain in a lot of detail. So that's good news.
Now, onto the fun!:
I want...
and
I want...
and
I want... to have more hours in the day to spend more quality time with my hubby. Since starting work I don't get home till 5:45. Then I have to change clothes, cook dinner, clean up. I miss him.
Kevin started his pool league tonight. So I got to spend even less time with him tonight. Boo!!
and
I want... everyone to say a prayer for my family: For strength and wisdom. For my sister and nephew. For my Grandfather and Grandmother. I'd prefer not to say more at this time, but we could all use some good juju.
and
I want... to skip right over Thursday and Friday right into Saturday AM to:
New Moon.
We decided against fighting the monstrous crowds Friday night to see this, and instead going to any early-bird show on Saturday. I'm sure I'll be watching along with quite a few of you as well. This is something, with all of the other non-sense going on in life right now that is keeping me excited. Hey, as long as it works right?
Ok, I'm off to bed. To the Ambien- better safe than sorry at 4 AM, right?
Beep, Beep... Back the Truck Up!
As previously stated I've been M.I.A. lately and there's been a TON going on. Such as:
Veteran's Day with my soldier. Kevin and I watched Taking Chance together. He didn't seem overly touched by it on any level but it touched me, deeply. I felt so lucky to have my husband and soldier home safe and unscaved. I know that I am truly blessed to have him return home to me. On the other hand I did very much miss Levi. We do every day.
Happy Veteran's Day to all our Vet's out there.
~***~
Tomorrow I start my new job! Yes, that's right all after a year of being unemployed a great opportunity has come my way! I am so grateful and excited to start this new position. It's a job that I'm familiar with; a skill that I have and if the company likes me it will be a very nice pay raise. So wish me luck! After I attend Traffic court tomorrow morning I will have half-a-day at my new job!! :)
PS: Traffic Court SUCKS!
~***~
Today is the final chapter of my relationship with Qwest. They suck. I'll be moving on. ASAP.
~***~
My sister can feel the baby move on the outside of her belly now. Nathan felt her move last night and was SOOO excited!
~***~
My BFF is PREGNANT! Yup, she's about 8 weeks along now. Due in July! Yes, you guessed it everyone around me is pregnant... but me of course.
~***~
Kevin and I have been talking a lot about what comes next for us. What we want to do next and where we want to be. Kevin and I agreed that we would both love to be stationed in Germany. We think it would be a great adventure for us. But we are still kind of in a holding pattern with Kevin's Warrant Officer application process. He has completed the Flight Physical and we are waiting for word back on that; whether or not he is "fit for flight". Fingers crossed!!!
~***~
Thankfully, I think that's all I had to catch people up on. No no... I do have to mention the release of New Moon next Friday. We are a whopping 8 days away! Yeah, I'm a loser... and I've definitely made peace with that.
;)
I Want it Wednesday...
I want... Halloween to have come and gone already! Refer to yesterday's post!
BOO HUM BUG!!
I want... my bod to work itself out, so that I don't actually have to do anything. Hmm, maybe I should get those EasyTone shoes? teehee
I want... this office manager position that I am being considered for with SRC! I think it would be a great opportunity for me. SRC is a Government contractor on Peterson AFB (as well as, all over) so if and when Kevin PCS's I'll be able to if not transfer to another location with them but take my new knowledge to any other installation! I'm stoked about it. I'm hoping it works out. I WANT IT!
I want... for people who claim to be my friend, miss me, love me to actually be there for me, miss me and love me. Prove it *bitches! If you aren't going to be a tru-blu, honest-to-god friend to me then take your BS, your games and your meaningless forwarded text (about how great our supposed/non-existant friendship is) messages and be out. I'd rather stay out home and play with my husband than waste my time on people who are flaky and could care less about me and mine. DUCES!
I want... make that NEED to shower. Got back from the gym... I should really, re-prioritize my life. Shower before blogging.
*~~~*
In other news:
These ladies: Hil and Lauren (who, ever since The Hill's came back on I want to call "L" for some reason) sucked me into the non-sense! What Non-sense you ask? Well, I'll tell you! They are involving themselves in this evil "to blog, is to run" state-of-mind going around. Really, they are just taking care of themselves; setting goals and doing what they can to reach them. We like to call it: From the Couch to 5k. Basically, it's a 9-week plan that teaches one to run- without killing ones self. I dig it. Really, what happened is Hilary DARED me to do it. She said "No Excuses". Aight... I got your "No Excuses"... ugh huh. WATCH ME RUN. RUN LIKE THE WIND! Wooo.
You see what had happened was: While the hubs was gone (making sand castles in the dessert) I lost 20 lbs. Since he's been back, I've gained 12 back :( (woah, is me!) and been REALLY slackin' on my gym attendance. Prior to the slacking, my routine needed some spicing up anyway so I figured I'd give this a whirl. So far... so good! :)
Disclaimer: just as I refer to babies as "spawn" I often, lovingly refer to my friends (both male and female) as "bitches". Please refrain from being offended. I didn't mean it. Love. Love. Love.
Vegas+feet= REALLY bad
I realized that my last post really didn't get to the point... about Vegas hating feet. I did mention that I managed to injure my foot in some way. Separately from the non-injury/pain there was the standard aching from the excessive walking that took place while wearing shit-shoes! I also saw MANY blisters. There was even one girl with sandals on, band aids on both heels, and (yucky) blood dripping from the left heel.
Vegas HATES feet and wants them to DIE!
Believe it or not, I actually did enjoy my first one-on-one vacation with my hubby and also first trip to Vegas. My favorite hotel was Paris. I loved all of the theme hotels; Luxor, Venetian, Excalibur (where we stayed)... ect and so forth but the Paris was hands down my favorite. I found it hilarious that they had CORNY pick-up lines playing over the speakers in the bathroom! Ahhh... too funny.
We had a great time, although we didn't hit any jackpots. We stayed within our budget for gambling money. We saw the Bellagio light/water show and took a gondola ride at the Venetian. We also saw the Tournament of Kings in the Excalibur; it was so much fun :)! The only other "show" we went to was the Live, Price is Right. We didn't win anything or even get called up to participate. :( it was still fun though. Do you remember the guy who hosted Supermarket Sweep? Well, he was the host for this Live show!
All in all, it was a lot of fun. Don't worry, I'll post pictures tomorrow. I just wanted to drop a line, since I've been rather MIA for two weeks. I fear that I wont be around too much in the near future, either. I'll be finding a job by the end of the week, at all costs. Deployment money has officially stopped... my working is no longer avoidable. It's time to humble myself no matter what it takes. I'll be taking huge steps backwards (from where I thought I was in life) in order to pay bills. Some people say it's honorable to step up... somehow I feel far less than honorable; feels more along the lines of failure.
That's what I'll be up to. Standby for pictures! :)
Attn: milspouses!!!
I've been doing some reading -- trying to distract myself from the time passing (if that makes ANY sense at all). I'm not sure if anyone else out there is as worried about money and/or finding a job like I am and have been this last year! If you are you will want to read this. Evidently starting 11 Sept (just next month... does anyone else find the date odd? Why not the first of the month? ANYWHOO), the Office of Personal Management issued the authority's final regulatory guidelines a few days ago. Check this out: "Noncompetitive Appointment of Certain Military Spouses." What's this mean you ask?? It means that the government is attempting to make it easier for us spouses searching for jobs, to actually find a job. :) This is something that I am completely "down" with! :) We'll see how well it works out though....
I know I said I would do better with my proof-reading but I'm all over the map right now emotional and that is making it difficult (obviously) to construct a coherent sentence... I think you all get the hint though. :)
Another thing, he said!!
So I forgot to add this to my last post:
"Babe, only 3 more Tuesdays til I'm home."
Awwww.. I heard it you all said it... Collectively! I know its true! Tee hee. Its great to think of the homecoming in those terms! Its funny because I was at WallyWorld the other day (possibly even last week..) with my sis and I asked her if I should start getting some of Kevin's things; deodorant, toothpaste, soda, snacks ect. My practical and logical side took over and I decided to wait. I'll definitely be back to good ol' Wally World at least a dozen times before he gets back... =)
Kevin's funny though... He agreed to hold off seeing the new Harry Potter until he gets home. You see, I had never read the books or watched any of the movies before I had met him. Kevin on the other hand listened to all of the books on tape and had seen all the movies. So we watched them all together he helped me fill in the blanks and understand the STRANGE names! Well, he's having a hell of a time waiting to see it! But toooo bad this time you don't have too long to wait (unlike with The Pink Panther) so you and I will both have to wait! =)
Movie watching is something that I am really looking forward to! There are quite a few movies on the list, that we'll have to watch together. And somehow it keeps growing and growing by the day:
Twilight
Harry Potter (duh- obviously)
I Love You, Man
Funny People
Transformers
Marley and Me
The Ugly Truth
Angels and Demons
Fast & Furious
::funny thing, I come to list the movies and they jump ship (out of my mind), evil bastards! I know there are so many more, grrr!::
There is half a TiVo full of TV to watch: a season of house, 1 and half seasons of Burn Notice, Raising the Bar and Royal Pains.
Oh- and it is official (like a referee whistle) I'm unhirable! This job searching business is a tireless chore. I'm over it. Maybe we'll just win the lotto instead... Stupid-ME why didn't I think of this first?!? DUH..
Excitement
Okie dokie, so after my long emotional weekend I realized that living well is the best revenge and that I hadn't even spent that much time on Kaitlyn so I lost very little in all reality! =) On to the living well:
The Call: Just a few minutes ago I received a call from the FRG (PS: I gave up my title as POC) letting me know that we're going to have our next meeting on August 8th. Actually, this isn't just our next meeting but our LAST before the guys get home! =) Woooo hoo. We'll be making some welcome home signs and putting together packages/"survival kits" for our returning single joes.
I am so excited for Kevin's homecoming. I know that I've blogged about all of our hard times and how nervous I am about his return... but at this point I am just excited! I can't wait for him to just be here and sit next to me on the couch, play with the dog, helping with the dishes or other chores. I am looking most forward to the general loneliness that has made itself all too comfortable in my life going away. PEACE OUT... =)
The Interview: My new buddy, Lauren gave me a heads up that her job was hiring last week so I faxed over my resume and was called for an interview. I went this morning and thankfully this was a great and very easy interview. The only real question that she actually asked was what were my 3 strengths and weaknesses. I think it went well and that she liked me. She did tell me that I was 1 of 4 and that she wants someone in the position ASAP. So we should know very soon. =)
I'm ready for a nap... I should go to the gym but I think I'll balance our checkbook and then go for some groceries.
The stuff....
~Tired~
I have been exhausted the last week or so. Somehow I can't seem to get to sleep until at the earliest 12:30 AM. On the days I get frustrated and try even harder to sleep it doesn't work out until almost 2. Last night I thought I slept well but I was moving pretty slow all day. Then I crashed about 4. Booo.. hopefully this little stage passes sooner rather than later.
~Vacation... Maybe?~
Last night I was logging onto my email and saw an advertisement for super-cheapo cruises. So like a complete idoit I click on it. "Hmm, I wonder where to?" ... "I wonder how much it would really cost?" ... "hmmm" CLICK CLICK... all the wondering and all the clicking lead me to some pretty great deals! 4, 5 and 7 night Mexico cruises leaving from San Diego or LA hitting places like Catalina Island, Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada. We could basically afford the cruise and it's applicable fees and that is IT. The nice this is that meals are included and from what I understand that is about it. We could hang out by a floating pool and tool around the ship not spending any money, oh and then there is the little matter of getting ourselves over to Southern Cali... We could always walk or hitch hike. Ha hahaaaa Well It was silly of me to get my hopes up as well as Kevins. Maybe we'll go to the Botanical Gardens in Denver, dinner, The Original Pancake House and the Hyatt in Denver (WE LOVE LOVE LOVE THE HYATT). That's what we like to do. :) It isn't a Mexico Cruise but sometimes we have to take what we can get. Right folks? Any of you who are looking for something special to do post-deployment with your soldier really look into cruises!
~Interview~
Today I had an interview for (what I thought was) a secretary position at the elementary school on Post. It went well but the position is on an "as needed" basis and not necessarily as a secretary. The interviewer told me the more available I am in regards to the positions I'll accept (library assistant, preschool, admin) and their different locations around the district the more opportunities for work that I'll have. If I make myself available everywhere around the district in all positions I should get a few calls a week. I have mixed feelings about this. I was dis disappointed that the position wasn't full-time work. But really I think that it's potentially a great opportunity. The interviewer also told me that the more I go to on a specific assignment at a specific location I could build a relationship with the people there and in then the more they request me specifically! (: They gave me I9, W4's and policy forms to fill out and when I complete them I have to schedule a time to drop them off and have my finger prints processed. I guess this is all good right?? I am going to ask around and see what some people may know about this kind of as needed work with this school district. What do you guys think? Bogus? Waste of time??
Tomorrow I'll have to run errands, hit the gym and I have tentative plans to go to the pool on post with my sister and Nathan. I wonder if there's time to do it all? We shall see. Tootle-lou people time to relax!
41 Days...
So today Nathan (my nephew) helped me decide that the whole having kids thing should really be put on the back burner for a little bit... guess what he did? Guess how he added his two cents to this discussion... HE MOTHER EFFIN' BIT ME! Yes, that's right... ugh huh, that lil mother-lover bit me- in my chub (aka my belly). Why would I possibly want to have a lil' person running around, pooping, crying, always needing me to hug, cold, rock, comfort and soothe them when they're just gonna turn around and BITE ME!?? hmm... decision made!!
In all seriousness after receiving some input from others on this issue my wanting to wait has more to do with the financial responsibility that comes with raising children and babies. I have blogged before about the financial stress we are going to be under when Kevin gets home and that is with just the two of us. Add on the costs of formula, diapers, clothes, shoes, toys, crib, bouncer, bibs, blankets, more clothes, more diapers, dresser, changing table, more clothes, more diapers, swing, high chair, teething rings, infant Motrin, infant Tylenol, BOTTLES, more diapers, more clothes and teething rings I'd be willing to wager a bet that we'd be somewhere in the neighborhood of up-side-down, in the hole, credit-ruined, car re-po'ed... basically it would be seriously BAD business. I can agree with those of you who have said that you are never 100% ready for baby... but to intentionally work at having them and bringing them into a tough financial situation is just irresponsible and ridiculously unfair. Right? I know that tough times will come with or without babies/kids but with where we are and what we foresee coming (if I don't find a job before Kevin redeploys) it just isn't right to pursue this now. No matter how much we may want babies now. Right???
Other than the baby-having issue I have an interview for a secretary position at the elementary school on post tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully that works out. If not I do have something else in the works. While far less glamorous I have to take what I can get. Within reason of course, I can't be out on the corner for a few bucks!!
Hope you all had a great weekend and a blessed holiday! (:
The Proposal
Yes Ladies this movie was completely adorable! Very Sandra Bullock; super cutesy, easy to watch and hilarious. Thankfully all of the funny scenes were NOT in the trailers to the movie. PHEW... that usually happens. I laughed quite a bit. =) I highly recommend it.
Lauren is adorably pregnant too, and NOT AT ALL FAT! oiy... :-p her and I had fun, I hope, kind of hard to get to know someone in a movie. We did have a chance to chat during previews and things like that. Honestly, this was probably a great choice for our first "hang out" because there wasn't pressure to conversate... But I felt kind of off today. I'm not sure if I didn't' have enough calories today (having had worked out before the movie) or what but I was seriously dragging afterwards. So we leave the theater and walk to our cars (not too far apart actually) and said "tootles, we should do this again sometime." (no there was no making out or anything feisty teee hee) and I just sort of slumped into my car and left. When I got home I just crashed. Sorta got a headache... sorta just exhausted... just "off". Now I am feeling slightly better after just relaxing for oh- a good 5 hours or so! What a lazy ass I am.
Lauren also got to see how big of a dork/loser I am. Unfortunately one of the previews they showed before the movie was for New Moon. Thankfully I contained myself enough to just lean over and say "I am pretty excited for this one" (or something along those lines). This was the same preview they showed at the MTV awards, so when they show Jacob all bout to transform into his wolf-self, you know the shirtless brown man? I say "Heyllo!" LOL haahaaaHaa Thats cool though. At least I didn't stand up and hoot n' holler! teehee- NOW that would have been embarrassing. I would have had to delete my blog, leave my husband and relocate out of state! ;)
Well enquiring minds want to know about the job search... this last week I applied for two jobs with school district 8. I received an email telling me that I had to come down to the administration office and complete a few assessments. So I did that on Friday. One job I applied for was in the admin office, which required a 60 wpm typing test, the other was a secretary position at one of the districts' elementary schools which required 40 wpm. Ok so I was 2 words shy of the 60 wpm!!! BOOO! So I retried again and somehow like a complete and utter asshole missed an entire line~ which dropped me down to 52 wpm! Grrr. Good news is that the lady in the office, seemed to really like me and told me that I should come back and retest in 6 months but in the mean time she is putting me in for the job at the elementary school. FINGERS CROSSED on that one. Well the other one was for this place called Massage Envy. Just a front desk position. I interviewed this morning with the owner. This was the strangest interview in quite sometime. It was more like this woman was attacking me, she was offensive. Not in a way that hurt my feelings, but just in the opposite of "defense". Any who... we'll wait to see where that goes. In the mean time I'm still looking... still applying! This sucks!
Ok so thats bout it for today!! my hubby checks my blog on his lunch so I wanted to take a minute and say "heeeyyyy babe"! I love you. I miss you. I'll talk to you soon. =) hope you having a good day!
