Busy come of days!!

My busy (I say again, BUSY) weekend started at 6AM Thursday (Central European Time). "Why was I up so early?" you ask. Well, I had to get up to Frankfurt for a 1030 flight!! I purchased a plane ticket Monday to come back home to Colorado for a visit. My youngest nephew was having his first Birthday party on Saturday and that job fell through so I figured if I would be coming home for a visit during the course of this deployment now would be a good time.

The fun part: it was a total surprise to my family!! Lauren was supposed to pick me up from the airport in Denver but some jerkoff hit her person with his car! Thankfully my friends Lauren and Erin enlisted Erin's momma to come up to Denver and get me (to keep the surprise intact). Thank the Lord for Erin's Momma!! :) I finally made it back to Erin's house about 9 PM on Thursday (Mountain Standard Time). I was at least 8 kinds of exhausted (hello dark circles-- eeeek) so I hit the hay after a much needed shower!

After two nights at Erin's house it was time to surprise the family at Logan's Birthday party. I showed up a little bit early and my sister was completely SHOCKED, then as my parents showed up they were also so shocked and happy! It was such an amazing surprise! :)

I'll be in Colorado for about a month just spending some quality time with friends and the family! The only thing that could make this time better would be my hubby! I wish he were here with all of us. I miss him.

OH MY!

What a weekend!

Sooo much fun was had! So many memories made with the family. I had such a great time making pasta with my Grandmother. Taking Nathan bowling for the first time. Attending the 2nd annual 5k for the Fallen in Fountain with some fellow bloggers (and my hubby). We also went the Balloon Classic. Always an interesting parking situation there, but we got that sorted out and met up with the rest of the family.

We definitely had a jam-packed weekend. Yet, I still managed to squeeze in laundry, a dog walk, a few trips to Wal-Mart/Target, getting the cars cleaned AND some cleaning. I very conveniently "forgot" to clean bathrooms though. It'll get done today though. (in case you were worried about my potties)

Other than that Hubs should have his orders TODAY! woooooo! PROGRESS... thank the lord!
Keep your fingers crossed for more good luck!

What a Difference a Year Makes

One year ago today my husband returned from a year long deployment to Iraq. He should have been home a year ago, yesterday. But we know how the Army operates on their own schedule, with no regard to what I may want. Jerks. HA!

That was one of the most special days. It was hands-down the best day of my life, to date. (yes, this includes our wedding day) I've never experienced such a variety of emotions all at once like that. Relief, nervousness, excitement, anxiousness... patience was no where in my hodgepodge of emotion, sadly. I mean seriously if only patience was the normal, given emotion for that situation. Because you know we're on the Army's time here. Nothing happened on time, it was always "just a little while longer". It wasn't as poorly organized as my Brother-in-laws redeployment ceremony but it definitely wasn't good times.

I was so lucky to have my family around though. I don't know what I would have done all day if I didn't have my Mother and Father-in-law to keep me occupied and LB to visit in the hospital that day.

Today, even though my husband has been in the field for most of the last 3 months I am still grateful that he's home.

Happiness

"Happiness is not in our circumstance but in ourselves.
It is not something we see, like a rainbow, or feel, like the heat of a fire.
Happiness is something you are."

I hope you find you're happiness today.

Things that bother me... and things that don't.

Something that bothers me:
When people who don't know me like "that" call me "Sammy."
This is not a joking matter people, seriously. Don't call me Sammy unless you know me like that.

I know it bothers some females to be referred to as "broads". This however, does not bother me- at all. As a matter of fact, I refer to a group of females as "broads" quite a bit.

Jilian Michaels bothers me.
I'm not one of those people who respond to her particular brand of motivation.

Wipe Out bothers me.
Just stupid.

Pretty and/or hot boys. most definitely DO NOT bother me:

Just sayin...
I'm mean who would that seriously bother??

My contacts at the end of 8 hours staring at the computer BOTHER ME!

time for glasses and BED!

The Randoms

I had my interview this AM. All in all I think it went really well. I really enjoyed that this wasn't a traditional interview with the "what are you strengths and weaknesses" type questions! Phew.. Those are the worst! I came prepared with a spare resume and some other information about myself and qualifications for the interviewer(s) and all informed about the company as well!
They said I should hear something by the end of the week or early next week at the very latest! They are currently hiring for two positions, so there are more interviews to conduct.

After my interview I headed over to the school to do some printing. I can read the required text online but something about that feels... unfinished. Like if I don't hold it in my hand I haven't completed my task. I guess I'm old school like that. At least I know I can recycle the paper at the school once this class is overwith. Speaking of this class I'm quick upset that I couldn't take it online... a friend of mine has taken it and said it was ridiculously easy online. But thanks to the powers-at-be I have to do a 10-12 minute power point presentation at the end of the 5 weeks! Booooo!! :(
Funny thing happened as I was leaving the Student Resource Center (SRC). This girl had an iPad. I stopped her and said "IS THAT AN iPAD?" like some crazed-"star-struck"-looney-tune! She said "yes." I said "wow- do you like it?" she preceeded to tell me allllll about it and how she loves it and how great it is.... ect and so forth. Well this only made me want Apple Inc. to holler and send me 1 of everything they got for free! (hahhaaaa)

Other than that I know I forgot to remind everyone to submit their questions for my "306th" blog anniversary! So far I've received less than 5 questions. Well, I'd say that's pretty crappy considering I have over 140 followers. DE-LURK people... come out and join the discussion! Say hello and ask any ol' thing you're heart desires! And do it quick.. you never know what'll be in store next. ;)

Two news items I wanna share with everyone:
1st:
good for him.

2nd:
Today is Mr. Channing Tatum's 30th Birthday!
(feast your eyes)
(from his modeling days--- note the lack of hair)

(that's for YOU sis!)
FOR MY ARMY GIRLS!:

Excitement

Okie dokie, so after my long emotional weekend I realized that living well is the best revenge and that I hadn't even spent that much time on Kaitlyn so I lost very little in all reality! =) On to the living well:

The Call: Just a few minutes ago I received a call from the FRG (PS: I gave up my title as POC) letting me know that we're going to have our next meeting on August 8th. Actually, this isn't just our next meeting but our LAST before the guys get home! =) Woooo hoo. We'll be making some welcome home signs and putting together packages/"survival kits" for our returning single joes.

I am so excited for Kevin's homecoming. I know that I've blogged about all of our hard times and how nervous I am about his return... but at this point I am just excited! I can't wait for him to just be here and sit next to me on the couch, play with the dog, helping with the dishes or other chores. I am looking most forward to the general loneliness that has made itself all too comfortable in my life going away. PEACE OUT... =)

The Interview: My new buddy, Lauren gave me a heads up that her job was hiring last week so I faxed over my resume and was called for an interview. I went this morning and thankfully this was a great and very easy interview. The only real question that she actually asked was what were my 3 strengths and weaknesses. I think it went well and that she liked me. She did tell me that I was 1 of 4 and that she wants someone in the position ASAP. So we should know very soon. =)

I'm ready for a nap... I should go to the gym but I think I'll balance our checkbook and then go for some groceries.

Clarification.... 40 Days Left

So my Hubby and my Sister told me that yesterday's post made my nephew out to be a lil' heathen child! Well, no no! He is almost 3 and everything that comes a long with that age, bratty ect. But he is also my favorite person on the planet... while he did bite me and it didn't tickle I still love him to pieces!

My hubby said....

Yesterday we were video chatting on AIM, which works a 1000 times better than Yahoo Messenger. Anywho... I was complaining that our internet wasn't working. There is no problem connecting to the router, evidently the router wasn't liking Qwest. So I resorted to stealing Nikki's internet (my AF homie, from across the street that is currently deployed to Baghdad). Once I got a secure connection to Nikki's internet and was speaking with Kevin, complaining about the internet connection he says to me:
"Babe, I am close enough to coming home that I can deal with it when I get home."
I love this! I meant to blog about it when it happened but as I said in my last post I was sort of out of the blog thing for a few days.

So the countdown is on people. I can't start the countdown from when they leave... that just made it feel like it was going by so slow. But now... it's ON!!! T-minus 46 Days and COUNTING!! WOOO :) Well give or take. ha haaa nothing is ever set in stone.

Does it make me uncouth to be blogging and semi-excited about this right now, today of all days, when Levi shipped out??

Military Humor

We all need to laugh... LAUGH people, it cures what ales you!:

On some bases the Air Force is on one side of the field and civilian aircraft use the other side of the field, with the control tower in the middle. One day the tower received a call from an aircraft asking,"What time is it?"
The tower responded, "Who is calling?"
The aircraft replied, "What difference does it make?"
The tower replied, "It makes a lot of difference... If it is an American Airlines flight, it is 3 o'clock.
If it is an Air Force plane, it is 1500 hours.
If it is a Navy aircraft, it is 6 bells.
If it is an Army aircraft, the big hand is on the 12 and the littlehand is on the 3.
If it is a Marine Corps aircraft, it's Thursday afternoon and 120minutes to "Happy Hour."

During training exercises, the lieutenant who was driving down a muddy back road encountered another car stuck in the mud with a red-facedcolonel at the wheel."Your jeep stuck, sir?" asked the lieutenant as he pulled alongside."Nope," replied the colonel, coming over and handing him the keys,"yours is."
~~~~
Having just moved into his new office, a pompous new colonel was sitting at his desk when an airman knocked on the door. The colonel quickly picked up the phone, told the airman to enter, then said into the phone,"Yes, General, I'll be seeing him this afternoon and I'll pass along your message. In the meantime, thank you for your good wishes, sir." Feeling as though he had sufficiently impressed the young enlisted man,he asked, "What do you want?" "Nothing important, sir," the airman replied, "I'm just here to hook upyour telephone."
~~~~

Officer: "Soldier, do you have change for a dollar?"
Soldier: "Sure, buddy."
Officer: "That's no way to address an officer! Now let's try it again!"
Officer: "Soldier. Do you have change for a dollar?"
Soldier: "No, SIR!"
~~~~
Q: How do you know if there is a fighter pilot at your party?
A: He'll tell you.
Q: What's the difference between God and fighter pilots?
A: God doesn't think he's a fighter pilot..
Q: What's the difference between a fighter pilot and a jet engine?A: A jet engine stops whining when the plane shuts down.
An Air Force Chief Master Sergeant and a General were sitting in the barbershop. They were both just getting finished with their shaves when the barbers reached for some after-shave to slap on their faces.
The General shouted, "Hey, don't put that stuff on me! My wife will think I've been in a whorehouse!"
The Chief turned to his barber and said, "Go ahead and put it on me. Mywife doesn't know what the inside of a whorehouse smells like."
~~~~
"Well," snarled the tough old Navy Chief to the bewildered Seaman, "I suppose after you get discharged from the Navy, you'll just be waitingfor me to die so you can come and piss on my grave." "Not me, Chief!" the Seaman replied. "Once I get out of the Navy, I'm never going to stand in line again.

Words-o-Wisdom

"Happiness is not in our circumstance but in ourselves. It is not something we see, like a rainbow, or feel, like the heat of a fire. Happiness is something we are."
