The good with the bad

Good: I had a great time at a certain lil' "Cookies" 2nd bday party! She was adorably cranky at first, while she woke up from her nap, but after she got into the spirit she seemed to have an awesome time at her party!!
Good: I re-weighed myself because my "monthly visitor" had just left the day before I had initially weighed myself and thought I could have still been retaining water- hence my plateau. Good news... I was down from where I had been. :) the weight loss continues!
Good: I spoke to my husband quite a bit- usual for us. I'm lucky that way- I know. I count my blessings!

Bad: Saturday night at worked sucked balls. I usually get out around 1-2 AM. I'm ok until about 230. Let me tell you something about the Commissary/DECA they suck. They don't know how to order shit. There is NO good damn reason why I was out Wednesday, Thurs and Friday at a normal/reasonable hour then Saturday I was didn't get out until 5AM (technically Sunday). It's bullshit. Just saying.

Bad: Interweb embarrassment. Today, if you know me IRL (in real life) I asked on Facebook what the female word for "bachelor" is. You also know this if you follow me on Twitter. Two buddies tell me (without being at all insulting) it's "Bachelorette". DUH! Well I feel like a dumbass. All the same... "bachelorette" was not immediately apparent to me because I don't feel like people use it in regular conversation. Outside of "Did you see The Bachelorette last week?" and "I went to a wild bachelorette party this weekend." No one says "Susan is a bachelorette." Right?...
Does it make a little bit more sense now? I'm not a completely stupid broad! I swear.

Who Needs Teen Mom

You remember when I ranted blogged about the TV show Teen Mom? Yet another reason I don't need to watch that crapola is I have a front row seat to all the real life drama one girl can handle. I said front row, as in not my own personal drama but close enough to watch, gossip about and worry about the people involved.

In other news, I start my new gig tonight!! I'm looking forward to being closer and closer to a debt free lifestyle! Bad news: forecast is calling for SNOW tonight. yay- that's always makes things fun for the commute home at 1-2 AM.

Thats all for today (:

SUCCESS

All my ingredients
baking away
Icing!
Last two!
DELICIOUSNESS!

So lets start with these yummy, delicious little gems! I was a bit nervous about my first undertaking of homemade-from-scratch-Martha-Cupcakes, especially since Lola didn't have a stellar experience. Well, thankfully these turned out great! They are so moist and delicious I am SOOO proud of myself. (maybe a little over excited about this?) (NO!)

I didn't have and couldn't find Red-Gel Food coloring so I used old school McCormicks food coloring. I've read that you'd have to use more of it if you don't have the gel. So I proceeded to use 1/2-3/4th of the bottle, and it was just perfect (if I do say so myself!). For the icing I only used 3.5 cups of confectioners sugar versus the 4 cups the recipe calls for, and it was plenty sweet. The only aspect of these lil beauties I wasn't thrilled with was that all of them weren't full and round on the top. It's really a pity when you don't get the "muffin top" you're looking for. You can find the full recipe here, if you're interested (and I strongly recommend you get interested people).

~~~
Aside from my amazing cupcakes I have more good news. The company I am currently working for found someone to replace me. My last day will be next Friday. This is a good thing because it will free up my time to really stay on top of the other things I have to accomplish for this PCS.
There's one more thing... I know, how much more could a girl want than delicious Red Velvet cupcakes and unemployment? Nikki (she hasn't been mentioned on my blog in ages, but she's a great friend who just happens to live directly across the street from me), may have a friend that wants to rent our house! EEEKkk! :) everything seems to be falling into place. As I typed that I'm doing my best to fight every negative urge in my body... I have this feeling of waiting for the other shoe to drop, like it's all too good to be true.
I'm gotta run! Don't forget to get baking ladies and LINK up... tells us how it went!
Wants and more
On this fine Wednesday, I want nothing more to be unemployed again. Don't get me wrong, I am very blessed to be employed; have an income to help pay our mortgage and other bills. I am grateful. But over the course of the last week I've learned how un-understanding people can be. (leave my grammar alone, you know FULL well what I mean!) People, at least these people, don't care that if I don't get certain things accomplished I won't be added to my husband's orders and permitted to travel with him. Which would separate us over the holidays.
I also want to get my Red Velvet Cupcakes baked already! I went to the store tonight and picked up what I need, so tomorrow night it shall be! If you haven't done so already, bake em' up and link up with Lola!
I want to know if I can take my washer/dryer to Germany?
I want forward progression with all of this moving nonsense.
-It's official we won't be selling our home, but we'll be renting instead. Please keep your fingers crossed for us! There are a lot of ways that this could go badly for us but we really need it to work out for the best!
-My husband needs to not be in the field first and foremost. So that he can deal with JPPSO and S1 and get us organized on his end. I want to schedule JPPSO to come get and ship our stuff away so we can get out of this house and get it rented sooner rather than later.
-I did learn today that I don't need to get my Travel passport and my no-fee Passport prior to leaving. I can get the No-Fee passport on post (which I already knew) and then get the Travel Passport in Germany. That helps me out a little. I'm nervous about giving up my only proof of citizenship though. I was born in Germany (some of you may remember some of my earlier blogs and telling you my father was in the Air Force), so I have a Certificate of Birth Abroad. Which is not as easily replaced as your birth certificate from Colorado or Oregon. I jumped online and click, click, click and had my husband's Birth Certificate like *that*. In my situation I would literally have to write a letter to the Department of State in Washington DC requesting a new Cert. of Birth Abroad. Well, I'm glad I only have to worry about one at this point...
I want to go to bed! Ni ni lovely's.
My life is running away...
with from me. I can't really decide which. All the same. I feel like I am being swept away by things out of my control. I feel like I'm not longer an active participant in my life. Well, screw that... I no longer feel like I'm in control of my life- "eff" participating. Basically my life is using me to cook, clean and organize daily efforts not to stink and otherwise keep hygiene at a respectable level.
Have YOU ever felt this way?
Surly, I can't be the only one.
Right?
Here's what's happened:
I got a job. "The Man," is toying with me. He's a mean, evil, tireless man. There's always something to do or some excuse as to why I can't have coffee and tool around Target for hours (staring at diapers) with my friends, stay at home in my sweats, wipe the counters with 409 (for the 200th time, in one day), stay on top of the laundry (building outside my room, closet, and in the laundry room). Oh, and never mind all the forms that have to be completed for Passports, Home sale/Short Sale... I'll ya what, this being a grown up business is for the birds!
Do you ever feel like the weekend isn't long enough? Or like life and the world, your family, simply: every-freaking-thing is just passing you by without any opportunity to relax, be thankful, count your blessings, participate or just enjoy any of it?
That's how I'm feeling.
I had a glimpse of the good life. The life which allowed me to have coffee and tool around Target for hours (staring at diapers) with my friends, or stay at home in my sweats, or wipe the counters with 409 (for the 200th time, in one day), stay on top of the laundry. Not to mention allowed for adequate time for blogging! I was out of work for almost two years. Granted, I need to work. We, (the collective, hubs and myself) need to pay our mortgage, pay for things we purchased years ago (most of which we probably don't have anymore or no longer care about)-ahem, debt debt..., and otherwise make ends meat and keep us in the lap of luxury to which we have become accustomed. Right. No seriously, working is a part of my life. It's a part of my life anyway. This is a truth I reluctantly happily accepted about 6 months ago.
So here I am doing a job I'm way overqualified for counting down the months until we move to GERMANY.
I'm Confused
First, I'm confused why my co-workers find it acceptable and appropriate to discuss politics at work. When I initially spoke to a co-worker/peer about this about two weeks ago she reminded me that a lot of these people have been working together for over 10 years. Ok, that's fine maybe even valid, but I haven't been working with these people for 10 years. Hell, I just passed my 1 month mark! But they insist on dragging me into these discussions. Well, I have a different stance than most of the people at this company. Which is fine. I have no problem disagreeing on political issues. What I do have a problem with, is it, 1: being in the workplace, period. and 2: when my direct supervisor (HR Director of the company) figures out where I stand (opposite from him) and jokingly makes a comment about how they'll "fix me up" and how they'll "help me."
A: I DONT NEED YOUR HELP!
B: I DONT NEED TO BE FIXED!
C: GO EFF YOURSELF!
Totally inappropriate.
I did respond to my boss by stating,"S----, that is the beauty of a Democracy, we don't have to agree and there is nothing wrong with that." To which he stated, with a smile, I think jokingly AGAIN "We'll fix you up, we have a way of doing that around here."
D: WHATEVER.
(sigh.. it's time to go home, I thought!)
Second, I'm confused about the latest craze: Vajazzling.
You remember the BaDazzler, right?
Well, females have proceeded to "badazzle" their nether regions; their female business.
Yeah.
Strange, right?
Yes.
Evidently Jennifer Love Hewitt has jumped on the bandwagon. If you google this (which I'm sure you will out of pure curiosity) her face and name are everywhere!
I was also coerced talked into jumping on the Twitter bandwagon.
Hit me up if you wanna know why I truly joined Twitter, SamS_live.
Erin was kind enough to bust me out!
Here we go people, hopefully it should be fun.
Also confused about why The Cutest Blog on the Block is getting rid of my current blog background? BOO...
Have you noticed the lil' note on my blog about how it's going away in a few days?
Couldn't have a better time to start working on new digs around here!!
Also, don't forget about my giveaway going on right now!
CLOSES tomorrow Friday, 23 July 2010 at Midnight (MST).
Funny stuff
Ok, we all know I love me some Twilight and I'm super stoked for Eclipse but the following photo I found just too effin' hilarious not to share:
...LOL...
Ummm, has anyone else noticed that my Eclipse tracker has fallen below 15 days!!?
Hello vacation from work and Rpatz!
Boop Boop!
Speaking of "boop boop" and funny things:
(where you can have it your way... but don't get too crazy!!)
Another funny video:
And one of my all-time-favs!!
Since I'm sharing funny things I'll share something hilarious that happened this past week at work:
So I'm the receptionist, right? I answer the phone and transfer calls... that's my life.
Swell.
But anyway... back to the funniness:
So I answer the phone: Good Morning, "such and such company" this is Samantha, How may I help you?
And this guy asks me to transfer him to Lisa. So I'm scowering my extension list for Lisa's extension and the guy goes "Damn it! I just farted." Then he proceeds to laugh and giggle!
So I transfer him and then press on with business.
And by business I mean laughing hysterically, answering the phone and trying not to get caught on Facebook.
HA!
I hope you all enjoy your weekends and have the opportunity to tell the people who matter the most to you how much you love and appreciate them!
;)
oh, and LAUGH!!!
When Your Husband...
Cooks dinner it makes things allllll better!
Kevin doesn't cook. Period. Well, not quite that "period." He does make macaroni and cheese. Since I started working again I've been pretty beat/exhausted/lazy/useless in the evenings. Somehow I'm also more hungry throughout the day. This using your brain business is no joke. Anywho, today I text Kevin about 4 p.m. and asked him if he would mind starting dinner because I was super hungry. To my surprise Kevin agreed. Once I (finally) made my way home he had the grill heated up, steak on, and rice-a-roni started! All I had to do was make the corn!
Gotta say I don't think there are too many things that comin' home to that wouldn't fix.
My friend and her husband are doing okay. Last I heard he's still in Kuwait awaiting transport to Germany. He broke two vertebra near the top of his back. He's up walking around and they don't think he'll need surgery. All in all he seems to have been pretty lucky. Thanks for all the support and prayers!
In other Solider/Army related news, all the NCO's met with the new Sergeant Major today. Evidently he's a very family orientated guy and will be contacting the parents of all the soldiers. You know.... just to say Hi. While I think this is great.... I'm wondering why he isn't contacting the spouses of the married soldiers and parents of the unmarried guys?
Any thoughts??
Oh.... last but not least (although I wish I didn't have to talk about this at all) the hubs will be gearing up for his fourth deployment this fall -- the gearing up part is in the fall. The Deployment part I'm not sure... but my best guess is in the Spring (2011).
So for "I Want it Wednesday" I want another Wednesday...
That doesn't include conversations about injured soldiers
or deploying husbands.
I Want it Wednesday...
First, I should tell you I fear I'm on the verge of losing the job I just got! Here's what happened: I haven't been sleeping for shit. You already know this. Monday I wasn't able to get to sleep until 4:00 AM! Yes... Four AM! I don't know how about you, but I am not a person that can function off of 2 hours of sleep- which is what I would have got if I woke up and went to work. So, I emailed my new boss at 3:30 AM letting her know of the situation at hand and that I wouldn't be coming into the office (yesterday) Tuesday. She responded and seemed okay with it. Yesterday I slept until noon and barrowed an Ambien from my sister... last night I slept like a baby. IT WAS GREAT! But today my boss wouldn't really talk to me. On the other hand I haven't been there long so it could be nothing. I know I did the right thing by not going; it wouldn't have been safe to drive and once I got into the office I wouldn't have trusted my work so it would have been a waste, but maybe I was just feeling guilty for not being there because I know that they need the extra hands on deck right now. We'll see what comes next. I've been working hard and I already know a lot of the job so they aren't having to explain in a lot of detail. So that's good news.
Now, onto the fun!:
I want...
and
I want...
and
I want... to have more hours in the day to spend more quality time with my hubby. Since starting work I don't get home till 5:45. Then I have to change clothes, cook dinner, clean up. I miss him.
Kevin started his pool league tonight. So I got to spend even less time with him tonight. Boo!!
and
I want... everyone to say a prayer for my family: For strength and wisdom. For my sister and nephew. For my Grandfather and Grandmother. I'd prefer not to say more at this time, but we could all use some good juju.
and
I want... to skip right over Thursday and Friday right into Saturday AM to:
New Moon.
We decided against fighting the monstrous crowds Friday night to see this, and instead going to any early-bird show on Saturday. I'm sure I'll be watching along with quite a few of you as well. This is something, with all of the other non-sense going on in life right now that is keeping me excited. Hey, as long as it works right?
Ok, I'm off to bed. To the Ambien- better safe than sorry at 4 AM, right?
Mother-friggin-exhausted!!!!
I haven't been sleeping all that well. Friday night: 6.5 hrs. Saturday night: 7 hrs (from 11pm-6am) another 1.5 hrs (6am- 8:30 am). You might be thinking "That sounds like PLENTY of sleep." Nope. Not after only 6.5 hrs the previous night. I'm sorry but 6 hrs is not enough for me. I don't function properly unless I get AT LEAST 9 hrs. It sounds like a lot I know. We're all different. That's what works for me. Well, last night I only got 7 hrs and was up at 6am. Last time I was up that early was when Brody got his business all over the house. UGH! It's going to take some getting used to.
Moral of the story is I'm EXHAUSTED! How I Met Your Mother (down/done) on to House. Then BED!!!
PS: I'm still not connecting with my co-workers. OH well.
