My Husband; The Kiss Ass Favorite

My husband is usually out of the house by 5AM everyday. He is rather obsessed with being ridiculously early on-time for PT (if nothing else). He was parked and ready to go at 530 this AM. With nothing else to do he desides to pick up the phone and call my Granny (in NJ). While I do find this adorable, I also think it makes him a total kiss ass! ;-) And I'm good with that. All the same, he is now my Granny's favorite person on the planet. Good-for-him! Laa-T-da.

Happy Halloween. While it may not be my cup of tea, the majority of people enjoy it, so be safe and have fun out there!
Check your candy! Booooo!

I Want it Wednesday...

It's that time again. It's Wednesday so you know what that means!

I want.... to win BOTH of these give-a-ways. I love free shit ( :) who doesn't?) and make it a priority to check in with both of these blogs on a daily basis! If you haven't already you'll want to check out Kaitlin (Life of a Busy Wife) and Jen (Crazy Shenanigans). Both are adorable girls.

I want... Hilary's recipe for apple pie! That -ish was delicious!

I want... people to stop harassing me about Halloween. I'm sorry that as an adult I don't enjoy dressing up like a Power Ranger and using this odd opportunity to eat free candy and booze it up. Power-Ranger+free-candy+booze=not-my-cop-of-tea. It's just not my idea of a good time. However, if it works for you be my guest. No hard feelings, no judgments. Have fun. :)

I want.... the snow to start falling already. We've been bracing for this incoming storm and so far this morning NADA! Grrrr. I love the snow and want it to start already. I'll be spending my day baking (pumpkin-cheesecake muffins), drinking hot cocoa, reading and waiting for the hubs to get home. :) Sounds heavenly doesn't it?

I want... Sophia's (from the Golden Girls) quick-wit and comedic timing. She's freaking HILARIOUS!

I want... to find a book that isn't in the Twilight Series that is relatively easy to read but still entertaining enough not to put me straight to sleep after just 4 pages! URg... This has actually been difficult for me to find since finishing Breaking Dawn. It's so rare to find books like the Twilight series that just sucks you in and keeps you entertained throughout! :( at least it has been for me.
What are you reading? Are you enjoying it?

I want.... All our military to put out of Afghanistan and to carpet-bomb A-stan and Pakistan. Yes, I realize this is a fairly elementary ideal. No, I don't care. Yesterday 8 more soldiers were killed in a series of bombings throughout Southern- Afghanistan. My Brother-in-law, Levi is currently deployed to Kandahar... southern A-stan. News of these 8 deaths bring Augusts' total fatalities in Afghanistan to a whopping 58. The deadliest month in this "War on Terror" since the Marines in Fallujah.

I can't help but just shake my head at the idea of that. It's horrible. I know that Levi isn't the only soldier in Afghanistan. I know that his/my family isn't the only one who freaks out when we read yet-another headline like the ones from yesterday. Honestly, I'm just kind of over it. My patience is all but gone after the last 8 years. I kind of recent the idea that our military being there keeps the terrorists there, and the extension of this idea that if we left they would follow us home. Anyone else hear the "lost puppy" analogy in that? Since when are terrorists like dogs... they'll just follow us home? urg. Maybe my wanting Levi, my husband, and yours (since most of my readers are also milspouses) home for good, then once we're all out decimating the country from the skies above is a simple-minded and (again) an elementary solution but it works for me. And if the "Lost Puppy" way-of-thinking isn't elementary then I don't know what is. Maybe all roads out of A-stan lead back to Finger painting Elementary school.

*Disclaimer: This is not a political post... it is not Left vs. Right. So, please don't take it there. Thanks.

I think that's enough for today. Happy Hump Day all.

OoopSie

Evidently I changed my settings yesterday so that no one could comment on my blog! :( Well I'm here to tell you that I've rectified that situation. So, please bring on the comments. More importantly please take a look at my last post and visit the American Legion website in order to donate for those soldiers that have sacrificed so much.

~***~

My hubs is at sick call. Maybe he'll get 24-hour quarters! It's odd I couldn't wait for him to go back to work after a whole 30 days together. Non-stop. Without a break. Don't get me wrong I'd prefer to put up with his smells, and finding clothes everywhere... I digress. The point being we were both ready for the break that work provides. Promise. BOTH of us were ready. :) I miss having him to spend my days with though.

Amy and I are just about ready to unveil 2 new Blogger Awards! Check back for that. We're excited for some new awards that haven't been circulated over-and-over again, with the same set of rules we’ve all seen 1000 times. Stay tuned!

Welcome to Colorado.
This is fairly typical weather for us. Yes, it drives me friggin' b.a.n.a.n.a.s. I do love the snow and cold weather. I would however, prefer a bit more consistency in my weather. I mean really from 20's to the 70's within a 5-day period? Yes, really.

Lovers and Haters

Part One: Lovers

I don't know about you, but I definitely give a shit!!! I give a shit that on 3 October 2009, 8 Americans, lost their lives in the mountains of Afghanistan. 8 soldiers assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division from Fort Carson, CO. lost their lives in over an 8-hour-long gun-fight.

I'm sure you've all heard this storty on the news or read about it. Long story, short: A well organized Taliban lead, Al-Qaeda attack overwhelmed Camp Keating, located in the Nuristan province of Afghanistan. The surviving men and women were forced to abandon the COP and air support was called in to level the base. These men and women left with only the clothes on their backs; nothing else. One soldier wrote to the American Legion saying "most people back home dont even know, no one gives a shit."

The American Legion has since set up a website to donate to these soldiers. They have raised over $50,000. Target has gotten involved. They donated "$30,000 in gift cards and merchandise to help the dozens of troops who lost possessions." I also read in our local paper that you could have went to Target yesterday and purchased items specifically for these men and women; Target matched the amount spent in support of this cause. I'm not sure if that is the $30,000 referenced above, or in addition to. I also heard that one of the major computer manufacturers (HP, Dell, Apple- I can't remember which specifically) is going to replace laptops for members of the units effected in this gun-fight.

{Photo Source: The Battle for COP Keating; Burnpit/ American Legion}

Because I give a shit I assumed based on the nature of my blog that my readers would also.

Please also, if you haven't yet vist Tammy Munson from ArmyHousehold6 and read what her husband, Sgt Daddy had to say of the events that took place on October 3rd.

~~~~
Part Two: Haters
My last post triggered hate from the Haters. Odd. Considering it wasn't even offencive in anyway. Hmm. Oh well.
Dear Crap Blog Detective:
If you don't like what I have to say then don't read my blog. I'm thinking my 80-someodd followers would beg to differ with your conclusion that my blog is "crap." In regards to my job search, if you would like to bring your ass from the UK to Colorado Springs, CO and find me a job you can please my guest. In the mean time I would urge you to shut your mouth, because really you know nothing about my life, my choices, my hardships, or my efforts to secure my own job.
Maybe you find my blog and therefore my life mundane or wasted. All I have to say is at least my blog serves a positive and (I'd say) necessary purpose. Versus your blog which is designed only to offend and "hate" on everyone else. Find something more positive to do with your time. If you, still feel my blog is crap, OK. No sweat off my balls. But ask yourself really who or what I'm hurting by rambling on? No one. So leave me to do what I do.
Express your hate and nastiness else where.
Good-bye.
Samantha.
The Award
Yay, The Undomestic Army Wife and my self are now teaming up to design the button and the forthcoming rules for a new Blog Award! YAY! I am very excited about this...
We are still working out the specifics so you all stay tuned for our new colabo!
(:
Apologies and Help
I have to start by apologizing for yesterday's rant, directed towards Qwest. While they did really ruffle my feathers I felt like no one really appreciates logging onto their blogger dashboard and read a post like that one. UGG!
Moving on. Two days ago I posted about creating my own blog award with new and unique "rules". The more and more I think about this, the more and more I really would like to do it. SOooo, I'm trying to recruit one of you graphic designer types to help me. I want to create some kind of custom button for this award for recipients to post on their sidebars/blogs!
Anyone game? Send me an email if you want to get involved.
Dear Qwest:
The battle wages on...
Refer to this post please.
So my internet service is SHOTTY, at best. I stay with Qwest because I'm too lazy to deal with finding another company: canceling Qwest, returning equipment, getting new equipment, scheduling installs, paying for installs... you get the picture. It's all just too damn much for me.
About two months ago I called and added long distance/local phone services to my Qwest account. How dare I, right? You'd think I committed some hanis crime! The bill following my account change was $5- and some change. This was obviously too good to be true, but as we were about to embark on our post-deployment vaca's I took this "gift" from God, paid my $5 bill and moved on with my day. BIG mistake! Today I get a bill and it says "Disconnection notice" and that I owe them $193-someodd dollars! Huh, who you think you are?
I'm totally taken aback by this! I paid every and all bills I received. So what they totalled $5. Not my fault. BUT! Let's pretend just for the sake of argument that I hadn't paid last month's internet bill of $40. That would mean my total bill for this month is $125 (plus taxes and fees). PS: Taxes and fee's are 20/month now. Because after an hour on the phone I received approximately $48 in credits and now owe somewhere in the neighborhood of $145.
The best part you ask? All this is due BEFORE payday. Swell.
Somehow through all of this nonsense I have been assured that going forward my bill will only be $39.99 + Taxes and fees.
Interesting, don't you think that this month I owe $150 (give or take, from $200) but next month will only be $50... Doesn't make much sense to me. Maybe I'm just not that bright!
Dear Qwest:
I've about had ENOUGH of you.
E.N.O.U.G.H!
~~~

To top that off, my Nephew hurled on me this afternoon.
:(
Hope he gets to feelin' better soon!

They like me!

Get this!:

Sara from Little Rhody Girl tagged me for the Kreative Blogger Award!

THANKS! Sara. This was a great surprise I didn't know that Sara was a follower of mine! I need you girls to comment more so I know who's, who and what's, what!!! :)

I love when my readers enjoy my blog enough to give me awards! This is my 3rd nomination and I'm super excited about it! Just a lil' stroll down memory lane, if you please:

This being the second time I've been given this very prestigious award I think I'll post the button on my blog (for all of time). I don't think I'll participate in all of the question answering though.

Anyone else think these awards need some re-vamping? All awards that I've seen have the same requirements. Maybe I'll come up with one that's a lil' different! :) hmmm

Stay tuned for THAT!

Helping Out

My girl, Lola is helping to raise money for "SSG Jackson's four children that were left behind when he was killed in action by an improvised explosive device in Ramadi, Iraq in 2006." Unfortunately I've been out of work for a year and am hard pressed to pay my own damn bills. So I am unable to contribute. I am hoping that I may have a few followers that maybe Lola doesn't have. I am also hoping that you could donate to this great cause.

Go check out Lola's blog and donate!

C'mon people, do the right thing. Pitch in.

:)

The People

Over the course of the last week my follower numbers have been all over the map. At one point I was up 5; then down 4; up 3... you get the hint. At the end of the day I don't care (as I've stated 80,000 times before) if I have 5 or 6,000 followers. But the recent fluctuation in my followers has forced me to question why people choose to follow another's blog.

Why do you follow my lil' bloggy-boo?

What leads you to follow a new blog?

Under what circumstances do you stop following a blog?

Personally, I search around on a new blog before I commit to following it. I read numerous posts before hitting that lil "follow" button. I have only stopped following blogs after there were negative after negative after negative posts. Just too much if you ask me. Yes, we all get down. Yes, we all go through rough patches. I just don't really get into the wallowing. Any-whozle, i just wanted to offer my own answers to the above questions so that everyone would feel a bit more comfortable responding to them.

Don't be shy. I truly want to know all of your answers!

Sound Off

I want your opinions on a few things. So, please weigh in!

First:

Kev and I were watching an Extreme Home Makeover re-run the other night. I don't remember the family members' names but I do remember that they lived in Arkansas. Anyway, we had Mom, Daughter and Son present for the taping. Their "claim to fame"/reason they were chosen for the show is, Mom started a non-profit (which I also don't remember the name of) which assists/works with the Missing and Exploited Children Organization, after her 3rd child (a daughter) was abducted 10 year earlier. Ty and the gang were in attendance for the 10-year anniversary of when the daughter was taken.

While Kev and I watched the episode we discussed the fact that this girl had been abducted 10 years earlier and that I couldn't possibly be as hopeful as this mom was. Kevin disagreed and said if it were my own child that I'd feel differently. Egh... maybe. Maybe not.

I got to discussing this episode with my mom a few days ago. I told her I didn't believe that I would be able to hold onto hope for that long. I went onto tell Mom how 'they' (the episode) campaigned very hard to get your kids finger-printed and have a current picture (at least once every 6 months) at all times -- as a PREVENTATIVE measure. I'm sorry people but how on earth are having pics and your babies fingerprinted going to prevent some psycho from snatching them off of the street? Prolly won't. Sorry to poo-poo that idea. Well, Mom agreed. She suggested Chipping your kids. We chip our dogs, right? Why not?

Those of you who just cringed and cursed my mom, take a minute and really consider it. If (God-forbid) someone were to abduct your son or daughter wouldn't you want to have this back-up?? For anyone who actually has their dog chipped you know that you can't just voila! activate it and have your mutt picked up lickety-split; whomever finds your precious pup had to take them to a vet and the vet activates your chip....... if all that goes according to plan then you can bring your dog home. I'm thinking I'd prefer something more along the lines of "LoJack". GPS.

{again, stop cringing... hear me out}

"LoJack, not LowJack, is the only vehicle recovery system operated directly by law enforcement. The moment you report a car stolen, a routine entry into the state crime database will automatically trigger the LoJack System hidden well on your automobile. The car tracking device begins to emit an inaudible signal that police can use to track the path of your vehicle. Law enforcement authorities then follow the signal, track down and recover your car and return it to you. " -www.lojack.com

I think that if some sick-o stole my kid, I'd wish I had them chipped (at an early age, it wouldn't be painful, ect ect ect.) so that the Police/FBI (whomever "they" deem) could track them down and bring them home.

You're turn. What do you think? Sound off!

I brought this up to my neighbor, Nikki. She hated the idea. She didn't want "the man" (lol) knowing where she was at all times. I think this is BOGUS! "the man" already knows where you are; and if not, he sure as shit knows how to find your sneaky-ass ASAP! So I'm gonna go ahead and poo-poo that argument. I would rather have "the man" be able to track me because he's bored and has nothing better to do, if it meant I could (if the need should arise) find my stolen child and bring them home. Versus suffering, wallowing, wondering and HOPING they would someday find their way back home.

~***~

Second:

How do we feel about the Afghan discussion in Washington right now?
Yes, I say "we"... we are now a collective and think as one.

;)

Seriously, what are your thoughts? SOUND OFF!

This may be an immature or simple-minded viewpoint but really, troop increase or whatever they decide. I kind of don't really care- honestly. Here's what I do care about: I care about finality. I care about Levi, my brother-in-law currently serving his 4th deployment, in Afghanistan. I care that he got swept up in the first troop surge... which is odd because that was suppose to be in Iraq- right? Lord, who knows anymore? Well, he was in Afghanistan at the time and was still extended to 15 months. It sucked. Increase troops, fine. Whatever. I don't think that they should make the guys already serving over there have to stay even longer in order to reach their "additional surge numbers". Whatever they turn out to be. I say: Send the guy who's only deployed once and drove a desk since 03. Send the douche-bags I see walking around post without a combat patch. Versus, more or less penalizing the soldiers who know what they signed up for and who suck-it-up and deploy time-after-time-after-time.
Hmm. I'm thinking that's goin to be unpopular. Oh well.

Coming back to Finality. If an increase is determined to be necessary in Afghanistan then it better it be successful. Make it count. Please don't make it a habit either. The Iraqi surge was successful and the majority of the troops left behind are non-combat related. So "they" say. All the same, if a surge is necessary I hope it would speed up the final exit from Afghanistan.

Ok, I'm tired and have written enough for one day. Please weigh in. Please don't go on and on about how repubs or demo's suck at life. It's not relevant. And it sort of bores me.

I Want it Wednesday...

I want... Halloween to have come and gone already! Refer to yesterday's post!

BOO HUM BUG!!

I want... my bod to work itself out, so that I don't actually have to do anything. Hmm, maybe I should get those EasyTone shoes? teehee

I want... this office manager position that I am being considered for with SRC! I think it would be a great opportunity for me. SRC is a Government contractor on Peterson AFB (as well as, all over) so if and when Kevin PCS's I'll be able to if not transfer to another location with them but take my new knowledge to any other installation! I'm stoked about it. I'm hoping it works out. I WANT IT!

I want... for people who claim to be my friend, miss me, love me to actually be there for me, miss me and love me. Prove it *bitches! If you aren't going to be a tru-blu, honest-to-god friend to me then take your BS, your games and your meaningless forwarded text (about how great our supposed/non-existant friendship is) messages and be out. I'd rather stay out home and play with my husband than waste my time on people who are flaky and could care less about me and mine. DUCES!

I want... make that NEED to shower. Got back from the gym... I should really, re-prioritize my life. Shower before blogging.

*~~~*

In other news:

These ladies: Hil and Lauren (who, ever since The Hill's came back on I want to call "L" for some reason) sucked me into the non-sense! What Non-sense you ask? Well, I'll tell you! They are involving themselves in this evil "to blog, is to run" state-of-mind going around. Really, they are just taking care of themselves; setting goals and doing what they can to reach them. We like to call it: From the Couch to 5k. Basically, it's a 9-week plan that teaches one to run- without killing ones self. I dig it. Really, what happened is Hilary DARED me to do it. She said "No Excuses". Aight... I got your "No Excuses"... ugh huh. WATCH ME RUN. RUN LIKE THE WIND! Wooo.

You see what had happened was: While the hubs was gone (making sand castles in the dessert) I lost 20 lbs. Since he's been back, I've gained 12 back :( (woah, is me!) and been REALLY slackin' on my gym attendance. Prior to the slacking, my routine needed some spicing up anyway so I figured I'd give this a whirl. So far... so good! :)
Disclaimer: just as I refer to babies as "spawn" I often, lovingly refer to my friends (both male and female) as "bitches". Please refrain from being offended. I didn't mean it. Love. Love. Love.

BOOO-Hum-Bug!!

So here goes: I kinda... sorta... all-the-way despise Halloween.

Yea, you heard me!!! Whacha gonna do bout it?

{insert aggressive gesture here}

I think it's a big-fat waste. Before my nephew was born we avoided it with dinner and movie. Since his birth it's adorable to see him dress up as Shrek (goodness, he was the cutest lil' Shrek EVER! Awwwwwww) and something last year; see I don't even remember what it was, but I'll tell ya that Shrek was sure unforgettable. Ok, So I understand why this is fun for the kiddos and why adults use it as an excuse to get wasted but this 'holiday' is still just not my style.

Carving pumpkins is fun though. Yeah, I'm kind of random. I just wanted everyone to be aware of my feelings on the whole Halloween subject.

Have a fantastic Tuesday all.

No need to fear, Pay-day is near!

WHOOOP WOOOP!

What on Earth???

Okay, this is the Reebok EasyTone:Which is a much prettier alternative to the Sketcher Shape Up:
I haven't quite decided how I feel about these shoes. Are they just a girl needs to finally shape her booty and legs? Or just another short-cut for the overweight?

I'm confused. I mean how much baring a round-bottomed shoe could really have on any individuals' ability to lose weight.

Ok, weigh in readers. Do you have these shoes? Do they "work" for you?

Baby....

Baby.... it's cold outside!!

Yesterday it was quite brisk. Overnight it drizzled some snow over everything. I woke up to beautifully frosted trees, and roofs! I love it.

Tomorrow we're expecting a high of 29 degrees. Yea, that's a HIGH! I. Love. It.

So it's officially Fall, and here in Colorado we're moving right on through Fall and into Winter. That's really how we roll. We have Summer and Winter around these parts. But I'm good with that. I much prefer to be cold over hot. I am a happy girl!

One reason I love cold weather: My mom (used to/because she's been SLACKIN') typically cooks heavier/ hearty/ Italian meals in the winter. I'm referring to Lasagna, Manicotti, homemade pasta... YummM!

*~~~*

Baby... GIRLS are on the way!

Think back a few months folks... I reported that my sister successfully completed a round of IVF. Well today, Mom, Aunt Marie, my sister, and soon-to-be Big Brother, Nathan AND (most importantly) myself went to Katie's first 3D ultrasound! Yes, there was quite the crowd.. ha ha.

Unfortunately, lil' miss thang wasn't cooperating at first. Her back was facing the crowd. I suppose she's shy. After about 15 mins of trying to get a good shot and waiting for Levi (my bro-in-law) to call from Afghanistan to hear the results, Harriett (the Tech) finally tells everyone we're expecting a baby girl!

I am personally VERY excited about this because I really didn't like the name my sister had picked out for a Boy! I am, however, much more approving of Madisyn Hope!

Congrats to my big Sis! They worked very hard through the IVF and everything else, now they'll have a nice-rounded out family! PERFECT!

I Want it Wednesday...

I'm feeling cranky. Pissy. Bitchy. Argumentative. Miffed.

Anyway...

I want to get over this Bronchitis all ready!
I want the Colorado Unemployment people to stop screwing me around with all of this random mail, and to shit or get off the pot (so to speak). Basically, I want a clear and concise; pass or fail; yes or no on whether or no I'm approved for benefits.

*~~~*

Not sure if any of you have put this little fact together, or not but it's just my sister and I in our family. I'm the youngest. Today my wicked-younger-sister-syndrome started rearing it's ugly head again. I'll be the first to admit that the youngest child is the BEST around (sorry for those of you who are the oldest ;], but the first is the worst and second is the best!). All the same, this afternoon everything my sister did just friggin bugged me! I wanted to pop her head like a pimple!

About 2 months ago I was in JCPenney's and I picked up their lil' baby stuff catalogue. It had the cutest bedding set on the cover. I showed it to Katie, she said she didn't like it and tossed the catalogue aside. So I silently saved this in my memory for any future spawn I may have. Wellll, my fancy-pants (first born) sister pulls the same bedding set up online this afternoon and tells me its her new fav for her fetus. GrrrR!

I POUTED!

Hopefully, I'll wake up feeling less hostile (bc I wasn't born first, ect).

Sickness update: I'm feeling better everyday but I still sound like an 80-year-old man that smoked since the beginning of time. Oh, and have mentioned the cough is still lingering? Yup.

The Tickle

The azithromycin is doing it's job... fixing me right up! :) This is the good news. The bad news: I am now dripping and draining from my nose! :( I look like friggin Rudolph. On top of that, I have this constant tickle in my nose.

Dear Tickle {in my Nose}:
I hate you. I wish you'd go away, sorta like NOW!
Thank you,
Sam

I suppose now that I'm feel much better I'll have to get back my life and responsibilities: cleaning, cooking, laundry... egh. Swell. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Sometimes I hate being a grown up!

Monday, October 5, 2009

I have...

bronchitis!
I broke down this Sunday morning and went into the Urgent Care facility closest to my house. I finally went to the doc because I woke up with my body aching allll over! This scared me because body aching just screams FLU in my mind... and I'm not in any hurry to take chances with the flu; you know the H1N1 going around and all. Luckily, I don't have the flu it's just bronchitis.

Tonight I am feeling 100x better though. Thanks to some meds from the doc and the fantastic care my husband has been giving me! I haven't cooked anything, gotten a drink, medicine, let the dog out, gotten myself a blanket or turned on the ceiling fan in 3 days. Kevin had brought my everything I could need or want.

I'm a lucky girl.

He loves me.

Updates

So I've been taking some time off, from all of this blogging business. Truthfully, from everything.

Two weeks of Vacationing is no joke. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. That -ish is exhausting!

All the same, we are home now and we're settling into a daily routine. Which is nice. Although, we're getting used to things,and life; changes are in our future:

1. Kevin is back on the grind; pursuing the WO business. If you all remember about 4 months back I was blogging about Kevin's travels to Balad for his flight physical, putting together his WO packet, ect.. Well, now that he's returned home they have to start the flight physical over, from scratch so that it can be handled (start-to-finish) by the same doc and everything is in order.

So, the possibility of moving is in our future again. We are going to be working together to get his packet submitted by the November deadline!

2. I have an interview, actually a group interview on Monday for World Market. Whoopty-doo! The silver lining: our bills will get paid!

In other news, I've got the sickness! :( Yummy, flemmy-cough, maybe a fever (I don't have a thermometer), headache and generally pretty miserable. Bleh! I'm going to go rest some more.
