I love that people hate Health Care Reform...

... you know because it was working soooo great before.
Fact: The health care system was/is broken.
Fact: It needs change-- desperately.
It seems to me: this "new" health care legislation is a lot like our beloved TriCare system. We all pay (even though a pretty minuscule amount) into it... doesn't mean we go to the doctor all the time and have tons of prescriptions. Take me for example... Money is taken out of the hubs' pay EVERY MONTH like clock work for coverage and I rarely go to the doc; I'm hardly ever sick. But doesn't mean I shouldn't have coverage. Doesn't mean I shouldn't pay for coverage. At some point *knock on wood* I may use my fair share of the money being paid to TriCare. I could get hit by a bus later today and be in the ICU for weeks... lucky for me I have health care coverage. huh? Otherwise paying for all of that care, out-of-pocket would really suck.
I don't have any issues with Health Care reform... I think our lil' TriCare system works. :)
~~~*** something I forgot to mention: This Bill was only passed in the House of Reps (220-215).. Senate still needs to pass their version and then the two bills need to be reconciled- then signed into law. Interesting people are TRIPPIN' over this still unfinished process. Take a look here
Let it ride people.
In over news...
Army Wives comes back April 11th!
Woot Woot.
sam...i agree it needs changing...but, the other 'junk' in the bill is ridiculous...they are forcing physicians out of private practice b/c they won't be able to afford to pay health ins for their staff. forcing them to fire ppl...b/c their pay just got cut...which in turns forces them into a gov't funded hospital...i haven't found one physician who is for 'this' bill...
and
the issue of abortion...i won't even get into that.
this bill is putting us into a lot more debt...who is paying for that. we are. countries with socialized healthcare have a life expectancy that is 10-15 yrs less than others...
yes, we need healthcare reform..but, this bill is absurd!!!
ok...enough of that!!!
have a great day :o)
I'm curious... what's a better option? I really don't know. I watched bits and pieces of that summit Obama hosted about a month ago in Washington asking for better options from the Republican's... and didn't get any.
With all things, change is a process. If this new system doesn't work change will be made above and beyond it... making it better in the end. Doing nothing for the MILLIONS of Americans without health care- living off the system was simply not an option in my book.
In Regards to the abortion issue:
"The first amendment, introduced by anti-abortion Democrats, bans federal funds for abortion services in the public option and in the insurance "exchange" the bill would create. Its consideration was considered a big win for them and for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, which used its power -- especially with conservative Democrats in swing congressional districts -- to help force other Democratic leaders to permit a vote that most of them oppose.
The prohibition, introduced by Democratic members, including Rep. Brad Ellsworth, D-Indiana, and Rep. Bart Stupak, D-Michigan, would exclude cases of rape, incest or if the mother's life is in danger.
Republicans strongly supported the measure.
The GOP accounted for 174 of the votes in favor of the amendment, with 1 Republican voting "present." On the Democrats' side, 64 voted for the measure, and 194 voted against." Via CNN.com.
I totally agree with you on this. TriCare really is a great little system, and I think alot of people that can afford healthcare forget about who can't. It is sad the number of people that die each year because they are not covered. It is nice to see someone agreeing with the reform rather than "bashing" it. Everything has his pros and cons. We need to be more about the "people" rather than using the Healthcare industry as a "money maker". Great post!
i'm not trying to be 'argumentative' at all...just stating my opinions...
what i have a problem with is that i'm gonna be paying for ppl to get abortions!!!
also...i have a problem with paying for ppl to have health insurance when they can afford to pay big car payments and carry ins on that...but, they won't get health insurance for themselves or their kiddos...
tri care is good on a smaller scale like it is now..but, when the whole world goes to this type of system...chaos.
a friend of mine (neighbor) is pregnant and just was seen for the first time here on post and she's 14 weeks pregnant...thats when they could 'fit' her in...that's a problem!!!!!
i don't think ppl see the long term effects of this type of reform.
i'm just sayin...
No no dear you aren't being argumentative. But I was trying to help clarify some of your facts and the changes that have been implemented since the beginning of the health care debate. You don't have to pay for other people to have abortions. Only abortions that would be covered are those in cases of incest, rape or when the mother's life was in danger. And that's if the "victim" even wanted it at that time.
As far as you paying for people to have health care when they have car payments and such. That pisses me off too. But this type of reform eradicate that kind of problem. It makes people pay for their own health care. OR penalizes them if they opt not to pay for their own. Personally once they've paid the penalty they've then paid into the system their utilizing.
So you're tax dollars are not going to abortions or to the irresponsible people who choose to live off medicare/caid.
Simple clarification not an argument. :)
